Palonot is a Finnish technology company specializing in next-generation fire-retardant solutions for the wood-based construction industry. As part of the Construction & Industrial Materials division of Bang & Bonsomer Group Oy, we deliver innovative, chemically safe, and cost-efficient fire protection technologies designed for industrial-scale applications.
Our patented solutions enable manufacturers to confidently shift from traditional mineral-based materials to high-performance, fire-resistant wood products—supporting the global transition toward more climate-conscious construction without compromising safety, quality, or efficiency.
Safe, Scalable, and Sustainable by Design
The core of our innovation lies in our use of ionic liquids—a non-toxic, biocide-free alternative to conventional fire retardants. Palonot’s products are free from Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and indoor air pollutants, making them future-proof and suitable for both industrial producers and environmentally conscious builders.
Our fire retardants integrate seamlessly into mass production lines, with application methods that include:
- Surface treatment (180–300 g/m²)
- Vacuum-pressure impregnation (40–80 kg/m³)
- Immersion treatment
These processes require minimal drying time and are compatible with existing manufacturing infrastructure, helping clients reduce both processing time and production space requirements.
Certified for Performance and Compliance
Palonot F1 has been extensively tested across various wood types and construction materials, achieving:
- Euroclass B-s1,d0 and B-s2,d0 fire classifications (EN 13501-1)
- Durability class DRF INT2 (EN 16755:2017)
- Low-emission standards: E1 and M1 for indoor air quality
The product has proven effective on:
- Spruce, birch, poplar, pine (plywood and timber)
- Thermally modified spruce and pine
- CLT, LVL, and glulam structures
- Exterior and interior cladding
- Wood-fiber thermal and sound insulation
- Cellulose-based acoustic materials
Additional certifications include European SBI classification, Japanese Q-NC standard, and validated leach-resistance under exposure to water.
